Kalle Rovanperä’s dangerous situation at the test track in Jyväskylä, the team gave immediate feedback – “Those kinds of things are not nice surprises”

Kalle Rovanperä had a hard time at the Jyväskylä MM Rally Thursday morning’s special test. However, Rovanperä, chasing his first victory on the gravel of Central Finland, found himself in a tight situation.

The upper part of the rear wing of Rovanperä’s Toyota came off during the test drive. He said the situation was not due to a driving error, but because the billboard was placed too close to the road.

What happened in the situation?

– Nothing more strange than that. Advertising banners placed by the promoter that cross the road. The banners are quite close to the edge of the road. I drove the optimal line along the edge of the road and hit it, Rovanperä said.

Rovanperä was calm, but admitted that the situation had its own risks.

– It’s not exactly an optimal situation when the wing comes off right before the jump, but luckily nothing happened, Rovanperä said.

– Two big jumps after the rear wing goes off unexpectedly. Yes, it’s a bit surprising. That’s not exactly optimal, Rovanperä continued.

At the same time, Rovanperä gave feedback to the organizers. The places of the signs could not be marked on the map reader’s notes, because the advertising signs were not in place when the drivers made the notes.

– People like that are not pleasant surprises when you don’t even know where they are, Rovanperä thought.

Will the organizers receive feedback?

– Feedback has been put in place. It happened in Sardinia For Elfyn (Evans) the same. That shouldn’t happen, Rovanperä emphasized.
