In recent years, almost every major film series has returned to cinemas with a new installment or in the form of a complete reboot. From Star Wars to Jurassic Park to Indiana Jones, Hollywood loves to tell familiar stories, especially when they’re about great nostalgia potential feature.
Only one indomitable film series keeps resisting the remake and sequel craze: Back to the Future. The Sci-Fi trilogy started in 1985which continues to be composed of Back to the Future II (1989) and Back to the Future III (1990), has not been continued to this day.

Building on this premise, the films tell three exciting time travel adventures. First we jump from the 1980s to the 1950s, then we venture a glimpse into a dystopian future. The third and last part takes us to the Wild West and bows to Clint Eastwood and other Western greats.
The fact that Back to the Future 4 doesn’t exist is something of a miracle in contemporary Hollywood
Extremely successful and extremely popular: according to Hollywood rules, Part 4 of Back to the Future should be have been out in cinemas for a long time. So far, however, only various offshoots and spin-offs such as the animated series Back to the Future (1991-1992) have been produced. The main sequence has remained untouched over the years.
One of the reasons we haven’t received another Back to the Future sequel to date is that
Parkinson’s Disease by Michael J. Fox, which the actor recently addressed in the autobiographical documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie. But what about a remake? A reboot? Or a Legacyquel?
Hollywood has come up with countless terms to further expand completed film series. In Back to the Future, however, director Robert Zemeckis keeps his protective hand over the franchise. For years he has spoken out loudly against Part 4 and any kind of remake. In 2018 he said: “There will never, ever, ever be a Back to the Future 4”as Esquire notes.

Back to the Future III airs tonight, August 3, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. on VOX. The repeat will follow tomorrow, Friday, at 10:15 p.m. Alternatively, you can currently watch the film on both Amazon Prime and Netflix with a streaming subscription.
