Extensive war crimes are being committed by both sides in the conflict in Sudan that has been ongoing since April, Amnesty International says in a new report.

The human rights group says that it involves, among other things, sexual violence against girls as young as 12, but also attacks directed at civilian targets such as hospitals and churches, as well as looting.

Since April 15 this year, fighting has been going on between the regular army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

“Civilians throughout Sudan are exposed to unimaginable horrors every day as the Rapid Support Forces and Sudan’s armed forces ruthlessly fight for control of the territory,” said Amnesty’s Secretary General Agnès Callamard in a press release.
