The Potions teacher, Severus Snape, let Harry Potter feel his dislike for many years at Hogwarts. His acclaimed actor, Alan Rickman, passed away in 2016. Years later, his co-stars still fondly – and sometimes with anxious awe – remember his imposing personality. So does Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton, who broke an unwritten Alan Rickman rule while shooting the last film.
Harry Potter star recalls: Alan Rickman was at least as scary as Snape
When promoting his biography *, Tom Felton once again rolled out the fact that as a young actor you shouldn’t mess with the star Alan Rickman, which was known worldwide before Harry Potter. Because anyone who got in the way of Snape’s wardrobe felt Rickman’s anger:
Alan Rickman told me in no uncertain terms that I Don’t step on his f***ing cloak should. I giggled at that and exchanged looks with the Death Eaters that said ‘is he kidding?’. For Alan Rickman, this Harry Potter choke experience certainly wasn’t comfortable. The subsequent reaction of the Snape actor was just as uncomfortable for Tom Felton:
Don’t forget that his cloak was tied around his neck. I almost killed the poor man! When he turned to me he gave me that look you never want to see. Luckily someone else stepped on his cloak the next time he tried, so his anger was somewhat diverted from me. But I’ll never forget his words: ‘Don’t step on my f***ing cloak.’
Even if this clash between the two Harry Potter stars sounds dramatic, in retrospect Tom Felton insists that he has fond memories of Alan Rickman in particular.
