The German energy company Uniper does not want to build any new nuclear power plants in Sweden, reports Bloomberg.

Sweden’s government wants to build more nuclear power reactors. But it will be without Uniper SE’s participation, according to CEO Michael Lewis.

– We intend to keep the facilities we have, but we will not invest further in nuclear power, says Michael Lewis in Düsseldorf according to Bloomberg.

Vattenfall and Finnish Fortum Oyj are investigating the possibilities of building small modular reactors and the Swedish government has expressed wishes for larger conventional plants.

But Uniper’s CEO says the company is not considering investing in any of these options, but is prioritizing gas and renewable electricity.
