A 62-year-old man is charged with impaired driving after police say a driver attempted to “mow down pedestrians with his vehicle,” in a south Sarnia neighborhood just after midnight Monday.
“The male party initially pulled up into a city park and began attempting to annoy a homeless encampment by blasting his horn for several minutes,” police said in a release.
“He then attracted the attention of neighbors who were drawn to the prolonged distraction,” Sgt. Gavin Armstrong said. “The male party then attempted to flee the area striking a pedestrian in the process with his vehicle.”
There were no injuries, Armstrong said.
“The male attempted to strike pedestrians again with his vehicle before fleeing the area,” the news release says.
Officers located the vehicle and made an arrest, police said.
Armstrong said the man is also charged with failing to stop at an accident, assault with a vehicle, mischief and causing a disturbance.
