“The boy had been subjected to severe violence, but I cannot go into what kind of violence it is. A preliminary investigation into murder has been opened, but there is no one in custody in the case. It is currently not possible to assess whether the murder is connected to criminal groups,” says senior prosecutor Hanna Cardell in a press release.
The boy was found by passers-by at around 8.30pm on Saturday. Later in the weekend, a technical survey was carried out at the site.
Another person has been reported missing and is being sought by police in the Stockholm area, the Public Prosecutor’s Office states in the press release. It is not yet clear if that disappearance has any connection to the murder.
— We are working intensively on the case. We have interviewed relatives, friends and people who live or were at the place where he was found, and we are working on mapping the deceased, what he did before he died, said Stockholm police spokesperson Mats Eriksson on Sunday.
