What is a spotlight hour? Every Tuesday, Pokémon GO hosts a short event where a predetermined monster takes center stage for an hour and spawns more frequently. This week it’s that time again and you can meet the Fire Pokémon Vulpix.
The limelight hour is accompanied by an additional bonus that is intended to enhance the event. We have summarized below which it will be and whether you can also catch Vulpix as Shiny.
Spotlight Hour on August 1st – Launch, Shiny & Bonuses
When is the event running? The Spotlight Hour starts today, August 1st, as always at 6:00 p.m. local time and runs for one hour. At 7:00 p.m. it’s all over again.
What bonuses are there? During the event you can catch a lot of Vulpix in the wild. These then spawn felt everywhere. If you want to attract even more specimens, it is best to sit down a smoke. In addition, you will receive double XP when evolving Pokémon during this time.

Can you catch Shiny Vulpix? Yes, if you’re lucky, you’ll also encounter a dazzling Vulpix. You can tell by its golden yellow body. Note, however, that the Shiny chance is not additionally increased during the event.
Is the spotlight hour worth it? Vulpix and its evolution Vulnona are not very strong. They are less convincing in raids and the GO battle league. So the event is primarily worthwhile for shiny hunters and trainers who want to develop a few Pokémon and use the additional XP bonus for this.
