The hydropower plant in Strömsbro has not been in operation for most of the summer as the flow of water in Testeboån has been too small. It has had major effects on fish migration. Five to ten salmon and trout pass the fish counter in Strömsbro every day.
– This is what I have worked for for 40 years. I’m just enjoying myself, says fisheries manager Bernt Moberg.
“Walk freely”
Testeboån has capacity for a significantly higher stock.
– Testeboån could house five times as many salmon and trout, says Bernt Moberg.
But in order to get there, the fish migration must be secured without hydropower plants in operation, says Bernt Moberg.
– It will take approximately five years from the time we secure the fish migration. If we want to have full speed in the river, trout and salmon must be allowed to migrate freely.
