There will be no Season 7 and therefore the biggest

In 2010, the last episode of Lost aired after 6 seasons. 13 years later, the finale is still controversial. The fan hope for a complete clarification of all open questions was never fulfilled. Many wish for a sequel or at least a different ending that satisfactorily explains the whole story.

6 Seasons on Disney+: The Lost creators intentionally pulled the plug ahead of Season 7

Lost will not get a 7th season. The series was canceled in 2010 after 6 seasons because creator Damon Lindelof and co-showrunner Carlton Cuse didn’t want to continue it – and that was already a compromise. If the two series makers had had their way, it would have ended after 3 seasons. Her plan called for the storyline to end at this point.

However, the series was so successful that the broadcaster ABC wanted to extend it – originally even to 10 seasons. Eventually they met about halfway.

Lindelof and Cuse went on to other projects after Lost ended and never considered a Lost Season 7. For example, Lindelof was involved in The Leftovers and Watchmen. Cuse developed the Locke & Key series and served as a producer on Bates Motel.

Season 7 of Lost could have solved the biggest mystery of the series

Many of the mysteries that arise throughout the story are never solved. Fandom has a long list of unanswered questions, but one is what bothers us the most:

  • What actually is the light?
  • How does this supernatural phenomenon that underlies everything “work”? Lost’s spiritual ending opens up religious levels of interpretation, but doesn’t provide any concrete answers. Some fans find this finale forgiving and touching. Others accuse the creators of avoiding a proper explanation and leaving the most important puzzles unanswered.

Of course there are many more things that don’t make sense in Lost. In Lost Season 5, a boat appears and the crew shoots at Juliet and Sawyer. Who are these strangers? And what does it mean that Hurley’s crush Libby was in the same mental hospital as him before her stay? The connection between the two is built like a meaningful piece of a jigsaw puzzle and ignored after Libby’s death. Why do some people become ghosts and others whisper after death? We could go on like this forever.

So that Lost could continue to be exciting, those responsible for the extension agreed to open a new puzzle for each solved puzzle. That explains why we are left with so many unanswered questions – forever.
