Novice driver faces numerous charges
A man from Blandford-Blenheim Township is facing a slew of charges after a speeding vehicle was stopped by a Norfolk OPP officer.
On Friday at about 1:15 am, police stopped a driver on Highway 19 in Norfolk County after he was allegedly clocked traveling more than 130 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
The accused is charged with dangerous operation; operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; operation while impaired – blood-alcohol concentration (80 plus); novice driver – blood-alcohol above zero; operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code; speeding 50+ km/h over posted speed limit; drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed; driving while under suspension; drive motor vehicle – no currently valid permit; Class G1 license holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver; Class G1 license holder – drive at unlawful hour.
Theft from Simcoe business results in charges
A Norfolk County man has been charged after police say items were stolen from a Simcoe business.
Police say the theft, at a Norfolk Street South store, happened on July 26 at about 3:30 pm
Norfolk OPP officers on patrol on Peel Street the next day at about 10:15 am found the accused and arrested him.
A 28-year-old is charged with theft under $5,000; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and fail to comply with probation order.
