In Niger, General Tchiani presented himself, Friday, July 28, as the new strong man of the country. The former head of the presidential guard has claimed the presidency of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland (CNPS). Abdourahamane Tchiani justified this coup d’etat by the deterioration of the security situation in the country but, faced with this seizure of power by force, the international community responded. Reached by RFI, Oumar Moussa, deputy director of President Mohamed Bazoum’s cabinet, indicates that nothing is certain.
