This is how Henry Cavill’s farewell as Geralt looks like

The Witcher season 3 finale is here. And with it the departure of Henry Cavill in the role of the witcher Geralt von Rivia. The Hollywood star announced his exit from the Netflix series last year. However, only after the filming is complete. From Season 4, Liam Hemsworth will succeed him.

Will Henry Cavill get a worthy farewell at the end of Season 3 Part 2, although it wasn’t planned? How does Geralt’s story end? Will he be replaced by a Hemsworth double? For those who don’t want to watch the final three episodes anymore or just want to know how Cavill left The Witcher series, here are the answers.

Warning, spoilers follow at the end of The Witcher Season 3:

The Witcher Season 3 bids farewell to Henry Cavill with a new mission for Geralt

Geralt has his hands full in The Witcher Season 3. For the first five episodes, he had to protect Ciri (Freya Allan) from numerous factions who wanted to get their hands on her. He also had to solve the mystery of a renegade sorcerer and calm things down with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra). In the final episodes, he faces his biggest fight – and his biggest defeat.

The Witcher shocks with Geralt’s greatest defeat

While a bitter conflict erupts between casters, the soldiers of Redania and the Scoia’tael on the island of Thanedd, the witcher engages in a brutal duel with the sinister magician Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu). This unleashes his true power for the first time. For Geralt the fight ends with serious wounds and numerous broken bones.

Luckily, Henry Cavill’s time as Geralt of Rivia didn’t end in defeat. In the course of his final episodes, he is healed by Dryads in the Brokilon Forest and trains himself arduously and rigorously back to health. Meanwhile, he learns that Ciri is being taken to Nilfgaard to be married to Emperor Emhyr var Emreis (her father!). What he does not know: This is not the real Ciri, but her double. Now he is driven by a new mission.

In the Season 3 finale, Geralt joins forces with Dandelion (Joey Batey) and newly introduced archer Milva to embark on a quest to find Ciri. Before that, he is visited one last time by Yennefer, who touchingly says goodbye to Geralt (and Henry Cavill). Then the witcher family is now separated:

  • Ciri turns away from her destiny and joins a young gang of thieves under the name Falka
  • geralt will roam the continent in search of Ciri
  • Yennefer As the leader of the newly founded lodge of sorceresses, she is dedicated to finding and killing Vilgefortz and making the continent a safe place for her foster daughter
  • This is what happens in Henry Cavill’s final The Witcher scene

Henry Cavill’s final scene as Geralt

The Witcher era Henry Cavill ends with a final battle sequence. In his very last scene as Geralt, he rushes to the aid of a refugee family at a customs border and fights scores of Nilfgaardian soldiers. His time as a neutral witcher is over.

From now on, Geralt no longer stays out of the conflicts of others. Instead, he leaves behind Renfri’s brooch, which he took in the very first episode and which henceforth adorned his sword. So closes for the character Geralt in farewell to Henry Cavill a thematic arc that began in Season 1.

In a final shot we see Geralt, Dandelion and Milva setting out on the road towards Nilfgaard with three horses. In the end, the witcher is neither dead nor is he replaced by another actor through a multiversal trick. Instead of this a new adventure begins for Geralt. In season 4, however, Liam Hemsworth will take over.
