New bike lanes installed on Henry Street in Brantford

New bike lanes along Henry Street in Brantford have left some social media commentators wondering if the Tour de France cycling race is coming to the city.

A few others say drivers better get used to it.

City staff recently completed the installation of bike lanes complete with flex posts, on Henry Street, west of Stanley Street, as well as a multi-use path on the north side between Stanley Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.

Henry Street is identified in the city’s Transportation Master Plan as one of the cycling corridors across Brantford.

City staff say the goal is to create an established cycling network to support a safer environment and encourage active transportation.
