A conflict broke out between the Jalisco Next Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Michoacan Family cartel, which are hostile to each other in different cities in the Mexican state of Michoacan.
During the clashes, cartel members set fire to many vehicles and blocked some roads.
A total of 8 people lost their lives, including 4 people in Zinapecuaro, where clashes took place, 2 people in Uruapan and 2 people in Apatzingan.
In Zinapecuaro, security forces detained 2 people in connection with the clashes, and confiscated 10 cars belonging to cartel members and many weapons, including hand grenades.
In the statement made by the Michoacan State Attorney General’s Office, it was stated that an investigation was started regarding the conflicts, and it was pointed out that many criminal organizations were operating in the region.
While the cartels in the region commit crimes such as kidnapping, blackmail and theft as well as drug trafficking, they occasionally engage in armed conflict with each other to establish dominance in the region. (UAV)
