The band members Plura Jonsson, Carla Jonsson, Tony Thorén, Werner Modiggård and Claes von Heijne started their career in Norrköping and that is where their journey as a band ends.
“It will probably be like the 40th anniversary but better, if it can be now considering the guests we had then,” said Plura in an interview with The evening paperbefore the gigs.
Eldkvarn’s last performance in front of an audience was in 2015 and they have released almost 30 albums during their more than 50-year career. The band, which was formed in 1971, also releases a final compilation album, in connection with the closing concerts.
Thousands of visitors from all over Sweden filled the audience in front of the stage in Norrköping on Tuesday evening. The band started after the scheduled start time, due to high pressure and longer than expected queues to enter the concert area, which led to some guests missing the start of the concert.
Singer Plura Jonsson relies on the audience to deliver at the closing concerts, just as it did during the band’s last gig eight years ago, writes The evening paper.
Everyone sings along to the song “Drunk for love’s sake”, writes NT in his live reporting from the concert. The tickets are “basically sold out” on both evenings, says organizer Nedim Ergül to the newspaper.
