Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the decree banning the practice of sex reassignment surgery in Russia.
In the decree published by the Kremlin Information Portal under the title of “Law on the principles of protection of the health of Russian citizens”, it was stated that those who want to change their gender and want to receive hormone treatment cannot apply to health institutions from now on.
MARRIAGES WILL BE CONSIDERED VOID
In the decree, it was stated that the marriages of people who have changed gender and married before will be deemed invalid and these people cannot adopt, and that people with congenital genital organ disorders can undergo sex reassignment surgery and hormone therapy.
In the decree, it was emphasized that this decision was taken in order to protect the Russian family structure and constitutional moral foundations, and it was underlined that it was aimed to protect the health of Russian citizens and children.
With a decree he signed last year, Putin banned propaganda about unconventional relationships and gender reassignment in Russia.
