Hundreds of homes have been either damaged or destroyed, and the missing people are believed to be under the demolished buildings, according to the local government in the affected area. Hundreds of hectares of agricultural land are said to have been destroyed by the water masses and a stretch of highway between the capital Kabul and the province of Bamiyan in central Afghanistan has been closed.
