Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been hospitalized to receive a pacemaker, his office announced overnight Sunday.
Justice Minister Yariv Levin temporarily takes over responsibility during the procedure as Netanyahu is kept sedated.
The details of the procedure come a week after Netanyahu, 73, was hospitalized after suffering what his office described as dehydration.
Netanyahu says in a video recording that he has been under observation since his hospitalization and that his digital heart monitor beeped on Saturday night, a sign that he urgently needs a pacemaker.
– I feel great, but I listen to my doctors, he says in the video that was published during the night.
