man killed after taking two oil company employees hostage

Regional integration and security issues dominated discussions at the Libreville

In Gabon, to everyone’s surprise, a young Gabonese demanding decent jobs and a better redistribution of income from the oil extracted in his region took two employees of an oil company hostage. The assault launched by the security forces freed the hostages the same day. The kidnapper managed to flee, but he was killed on the night of Friday to Saturday.

It was in a post-mortem video posted on Facebook that the man gave his last cry of despair. In the images, we can see Glen Patrick Moudenge denouncing unpaid work, the lack of schools, care and corruption in his oil-rich region.

For the time being, no official information has circulated on the reasons for his death. It all started last Tuesday when the man took two agents of an oil company hostage as they went to their work station.

Shortly after, the police launched the assault. The two hostages are released safe and sound. A policeman is injured. But Glen Patrick Moudenge escapes. It was after three days of tracking that the father of a 9-year-old boy was killed in unclear circumstances.

In his entourage, several people deplore his elimination, if not his “assassination”, since he had neither killed nor injured the hostages.
