At a gala in Madrid, his first outdoor event of the season, Bengtström ran the 400 meters in 45.91, an improvement of seven hundredths on his previous outdoor record for the distance. With that time, he finished fourth in his heat.
“It feels so damn good to be back on the track again. This was almost beyond expectation. I’ve done zero sprint sessions in the last two months, haven’t worn spiked shoes since May. The plan was just to come here and be able to run. And then it went so well. It’s insanely great,” says the 23-year-old in a press release and concludes with:
“This feels promising!”.
Next up is the SM in Söderhamn for Bengtström.
