At 21:46 on Friday evening, the police received several calls that loud bangs had been heard in the district of Skiftinge in Eskilstuna.
At the scene, the police found a man with gunshot wounds who was taken to hospital by ambulance. Shortly after midnight, police said the man died from his injuries.
The police can establish that a shooting took place and that a large number of shots were fired.

In connection with the shooting, at least one vehicle and one building have been hit. No other person is said to have been injured.
The crime scene is cordoned off pending the arrival of technicians.
– There is work going on right now with knocking on doors and other investigative measures, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.
Magnus Jansson Klarin cannot answer if the person who died was already known to the police.
– It is too early to say, but there are of course suspicions that it is connected to the criminal environment, he says.
