Prosecutors have today charged a man in his 40s who is suspected of murdering an 18-year-old woman in Malmö 20 years ago. The woman was reported missing in early 2003 and in October of the same year body parts were found in the Bokskogen in Skåne.
In 2004, two people were suspected and detained for involvement in her death. One of these was a man with whom the woman had recently had a relationship. Both were later released and the investigation stalled.
In 2017, most of the remaining body was found outside Staffanstorp. The police then chose to reopen the investigation.
At the end of 2022, the ex-boyfriend who had previously been a suspect was arrested.
– There has been an extensive investigation over several years where the police have done an excellent job of following up on many angles and clues. A breakthrough took place, in my opinion, when forensic expertise in 2017 assessed that the woman had been shot in the neck area, says preliminary investigation leader Tomas Olvmyr in a statement.
– This in combination with several different people being told by the suspect and other people what happened in the accused man’s apartment. This information confirmed, among other things, that the woman had been shot.
He also says that there is strong evidence for what happened.
The trial will take place during week 31 to week 33.
