New Pokémon app monitors your sleep

Pokémon Sleep is a new app for Android and iOS designed to monitor your sleep habits and reward you for good sleep. The game can be downloaded now. Some players are now sharing clips of their noises, some coming from all vents.

What is this app? Before you go to bed, activate Pokémon Sleep and put your phone next to your pillow. After that, the app monitors how long you sleep, how much you move, and what noises you make. The better your sleep, the higher your sleep score will be.

This score is then offset against the power of a Relaxo, which you can find in the game each week and improve over time. Together, this results in a sleeping power that you can use to attract and catch a certain number of Pokémon. Your sleep style also affects which Pokémon appear.

The app can also wake you up with Pokémon sounds or snooze to sleep. There is also a friends option.

Thanks to Pokémon GO Plus, there should also be the opportunity to get rewards in other games. Our author Max Handwerk has already tested Pokémon Sleep: I had to sleep 6 hours to collect Pokémon.

App records all sounds for 24 hours

What happened now? After the beta started, the first users started sharing clips from their app. Typical noises such as snoring, yawning and turning in bed can be heard in many.

But since the app is always listening and recording sounds that exceed a certain decibel threshold, that also means any slightly louder fart will be recorded and saved for listening pleasure.

Funny comments piled up under the tweet, such as, “How does it make you feel knowing that nearly 50,000 people listened to your fart?”. Other users also shared their body sounds via Twitter, including Eevee_Queen.

Do you have to record that? The recordings of the sleep sounds remain for a maximum of 24 hours or until the start of the next sleep phase.

However, you can disable this if you don’t want the audio to be recorded. But many users are currently celebrating the function very much.

Can the app be used in Germany? Yes, Pokémon Sleep can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store (over 500,000 downloads and 3.4 stars) and the App Store (5 stars from two reviews).

What do you say about the app? Do you monitor your sleep and is there a conceivable alternative for you to grab Pokémon as a reward for it? Or do you think Pokémon Sleep is more of an unnecessary gimmick? Feel free to write it in the comments.

Those who prefer to be more active in Pokémon GO will find the next event there on Saturday: Pokémon GO starts hatching day with Riolu and this content on Saturday.
