Police in southwest Berlin are warning residents that an animal is on the loose.
“Avoid leaving your homes in the Kleinmachnow, Teltow and Stahnsdorf areas because of an escaped wild animal, and keep your pets inside. Our colleagues are on site and monitoring the situation,” writes the Brandenburg Police on Twitter.
The newspaper Picture reports that police believe it is a female lion. The police have carried out a major operation since midnight, including with the help of a police helicopter and armed hunters.
After reports that the animal may have escaped from a circus, the police stated that no zoo or circus is missing an animal.
Shortly before eight thirty in the morning, the police announced that the animal had not yet been found.
