Staff at a Sis home in Södertälje had to lock themselves in and alert the police on Wednesday evening after a number of inmates tried to get from one ward to another, the police write on their website.

According to the police, the inmates have tried to get hold of keys and surveillance cameras and other security equipment have been broken. One of the staff is also said to have been abused.

Shortly before 10 p.m., about an hour after the alarm, the police entered the facility where the situation had calmed down. An inmate has been arrested for violence against an official and the staff who were abused have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Another member of staff was hurt during the incident but did not require medical attention. In addition to violence against an official, the incident is classified as aggravated vandalism.
