Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean

“I think, [Elizabeth] sailed away so beautifully. She sailed away in style”, says Knightley in regards to their possible, but very unlikely, franchise return. When we look at the character development of your character in the original trilogy, it makes a lot of sense. Elizabeth’s adventure is over.

We first met the character as a governor’s daughter who was to be married off to a man she didn’t love and was kidnapped by a pirate. Over the course of the first three films, Elizabeth freed from all these bonds and chose her true love. In the end she even became the pirate queen.

If anyone has completed the Pirates of the Caribbean universe, it’s Elizabeth.
