Destiny 2 needs to disable 4 popular armor mods, breaking many builds

Destiny 2 had to disable four popular mods. This has caused some frustration as many players are currently unable to use their builds. However, Bungie had a good reason for the deactivation: the mods were exploited for a Solstice glitch.

Which mods have been disabled? The four disabled mod options are popular arm armor mods that boosted abilities in many builds. They usually help boost Guardian abilities. The deactivation was announced by Bungie via Twitter.

The following mods are currently no longer usable in Destiny 2:

  • Detonation Boost: Grants class ability energy when dealing damage with a grenade.
  • impact induction: Damage with melee attacks reduces grenade cooldown.
  • Momentum Transfer: Damage with grenades reduces melee cooldown.
  • Focus Attack: Grants class ability energy from melee attack damage.
  • Bungie doesn’t explain in its Twitter post why the mods were disabled. But it’s very likely that the reason is a recently exposed glitch in the Solstice event.

Why were the mods disabled? The decision to disable the four mods was most likely made due to issues with the Solstice event. A remnant glitch allowed players to unfairly affect the game.

  • The glitch resulted in players being able to infinitely recharge their melee and super abilities by quickly swapping armor pieces back and forth.
  • This bypassed the mechanics of the event and sped up event progression by allowing you to quickly get more Silver Leaves to upgrade your armor.
  • This was also the reason why the mod skill mod “General Purpose Kickstart” had to be disabled last. It has been unavailable since July 8th because it caused a similar problem.

For players who didn’t know about it and didn’t take advantage of the glitch, this decision is also bitter. Because they had built their builds and strategies around these mods and are now struggling to find alternative solutions that work just as well.

When will the mods be available again? Can’t say that at the moment. However, Bungie is already working to fix the issue and re-enable the mods as soon as possible.

So that you know when your builds will be fully operational again, we will update this article once the mods are usable again in the game.

In the meantime, Guardians will need to adjust their builds and try alternate strategies.
