Sweden is one of the big favorites in this year’s WC.
But not if you ask Norway…
– That’s not my first thought right away, says Tuva Hansen.
On Sunday, the soccer World Cup finally begins for Sweden, and now the statistics company Nielsen’s Gracenote has produced figures that should, to say the least, make the Swedes smile. It shows that Sweden is the team that has the second best chance of going all the way to a gold.
The great mockery
According to Gracenote, the USA is the big favorite to win its third World Cup title, with an 18 percent chance of first place in the tournament. Sweden is, as also mentioned, second on the list with a winning chance of eleven percent. But not everyone agrees with the statistics.
Despite the fact that Sweden is proven extremely strong in championships, Norway is not as impressed. When players and managers find out the numbers, “you just snort”, according to VG.
– I hadn’t guessed that. It wasn’t exactly the first thought that struck me, says Bayern Munich player Tuva Hansen.

“Fun for Sweden…”
The defense also chooses to send a pass about how she “treats” Sweden the favorite stamp.
– It’s fun for Sweden with a little publicity, then we’ll see if it’s true, she says.
Norway itself is not even tipped to make it to the quarter-finals of the tournament. But neither does national team captain Hege Riise see Sweden as a favorite for gold.
– No, I do not. It is perhaps thanks to the Olympic final, that they did well there, that they are tipped like that. I think England will be up there, then you are always excited about Spain, she says.
