Xavier Yvon: This summer, I’m going to my parents’ house, in the Lot.
Jules Krot : It’s a nice place. At the beginning of August I go to see cousins who still live in the village of my grandparents in Finistère.
Marion Gallard : That’s rare, there aren’t a lot of young people in those areas.
Jules Krot : Yes, during the year the village is empty. There are mostly second homes that only fill up in the summer.
Charlotte Baris : It’s the same with my aunt near Arcachon. But with telework some are still there more often now.
Mathias Penguilly : Same on the Côte d’Opale where I often go. It has become very expensive to buy even the smallest house.

When the journalists from L’Express’ social service published a series of articles on the prices of real estate by the sea, I took the liberty of highlighting this exchange, because this discussion – which you may have had -even while preparing for your summer – reflects the situation of the entire French coast: prices are exploding, second homes are multiplying and premises are upwind.
