The threat from the Kremlin – after the attack on

Two died when the Krim Bridge was attacked with drones.

Russian tourists are now fleeing the occupied peninsula and Putin is promising revenge against those responsible.

“Blow up their houses and the houses of their relatives,” said Dimitriy Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.

Traffic queues stretched for five kilometers on Monday as Russian tourists fled Crimea after the attack on the bridge connecting the peninsula to the Russian mainland.

The tourists are forced to drive through occupied territory in southern Ukraine to get back to Russia.

Family fell victim in the attack

The authorities have relaxed the curfew in the occupied areas and promise that the military will keep the road safe.

Two people, a man and a woman, died and the couple’s teenage daughter was injured when parts of the bridge were blown up in drone strikes.

The family from Belgorod was in their car on their way to Crimea for vacation when the explosion happened.

The attack has sent shockwaves through Russia and senior Kremlin officials are calling for brutal revenge for the blast.

Want to see “inhuman response”

Ukraine is singled out as responsible for the attack.

Farthest of all is Dimitriy Medvedev, ex-president and current vice-chairman of the Russian National Security Council.

He wants to see “an inhuman response”.

“Experience both globally and here shows that it does not help with international sanctions or issuing warnings against terrorists. They only understand violence,” he writes on Telegram according to the Russian state-controlled news agency Tass.

“Their houses and the houses of their relatives should be blown up”.

Popular destination

President Putin, who on Monday held a video conference with senior representatives of occupied territories and his transport minister, was more reserved.

– Of course, Russia will respond. The Ministry of Defense is preparing relevant proposals, Putin said according to Tass.

The country has occupied Crimea since 2014 and for Russian tourists, the peninsula is a popular tourist destination.

Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine last February, Russians have been barred from most international travel, making Crimea even more attractive.

This despite the fact that Ukraine has promised that it will not give up until Crimea is also taken back.

Mocking the tourists

In Kiev, the Ukrainian regime has not claimed responsibility for the attack. But that didn’t stop them from mocking the tourists’ escape.

“The number of “domestic” tourist destinations for Russians is decreasing. With alarming regularity,” writes the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Twitter.

According to sources to the BBC the bridge was allegedly attacked by two surface drones in an operation by Ukrainian security forces.

– Given that this is the second terrorist attack against the Crimean Bridge, I am waiting for specific proposals on how to improve the security of this strategically important part of the infrastructure, Putin said during the crisis meeting after the attack.

In October last year, the bridge was temporarily closed after a powerful explosion. Even today, the exact cause is not clear.
