After a weather postponement the previous day, the 10th annual Mitchell’s Bay Antique Car, Truck, Motorcycle and Tractor Show made up for it on Sunday.
Under sunny skies, more than 150 vehicles rolled into in the park underneath the water tower, along with food trucks and other vendors.
Hosted by the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association, event chair Karen Miles said the decision was made early Saturday morning to change the day, adding they’re glad they did.
“It’s wonderful. It’s nice that everyone is getting together and the weather’s holding out,” she said. “This is the first time we’ve ever had to cancel.”
More than 50 volunteers were helping out at the car show, which also featured family activities as well as prizes.
Miles called the 10th anniversary a special occasion for everyone involved.
“It’s been great all those 10 years,” she said. “I think it brings out a lot of people to the community and helps out the restaurants and everything. A lot of traffic.”
Jim Buis and his wife, Evelyn, of Tilbury, were enjoying the shade while sitting beside their 1957 Chevy 150 sedan.
“I’ve been here every year,” he said. “This is a nice location. And a lot of nice cars,” he said. “This is about as good as it gets.”
Evelyn said they attend between 10 to 12 car shows each year and that Mitchell’s Bay has much to offer visitors.
“I really like it, the coffees and everything else,” she said.
