Sweden is a model in the future for climate-friendly properties

The construction industry contributes to a third of global carbon dioxide emissions, cement alone accounts for at least five percent.

The whole world is now looking for alternative building materials and Sweden is a role model with its award-winning wooden houses. But even the sun has its spots, because even the climate-friendly wooden properties require a concrete foundation.

Now the state company Rise in Skellefteå has started a six-year project to test and evaluate sustainable building foundations for the construction industry.

– There is very great potential to work with the foundation to reduce the climate impact, says Irina Martynyuk, project manager at Rise.

See how it’s done in the factory in Skellefteå, in the clip above.
