Anni-Linnea Alanen achieved bronze in the women’s javelin at the under-23 EC athletics in Espoo. Alanen threw 56.67 in his first.

– It tastes really good. In terms of results, I expected a little more, but a medal is always a medal. I have worked hard for this. You have to be satisfied, Alanen said.

Alanen threw his record 62.45 two weeks ago in Pihtiputaa. He went to the EC final as the second player in terms of statistics.

– The timings were not quite right today. There were some difficulties with the sign. That’s why the end of the throw doesn’t come out so well.

Greece won the championship Elina Tzengko with a result of 60.73. Silver went to Estonia For Gedly Tug with a result of 57.62.

A tough but rewarding season

The competition medal is the second in his career for 20-year-old Alase. He also got bronze two years ago at the under-20 European Championships. A year ago, he made his debut in the adult competition at the European Championships in Munich.

– It has been a very tough, but rewarding season. A year ago, in the spring, there was a period of serious illness. After that elbow problems, surgery and everything. Last year was very difficult, but here we are again and everything is fine, Alanen smiled.

Emilia Karel finished fifth in the final with his own record of 55.33.

Alanen’s medal was the Finnish team’s tenth in the games that ended today. Finland’s team of more than 70 athletes won three gold, three silver and four bronze. In the table of medals won by Great Britain, it took seventh place.

The medal tally is Finland’s all-time best in the under-23 European Championships.
