Two officers were injured trying to arrest him, said Henry County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Syntonnia Moore. She couldn’t say how seriously injured they are.
The murders in Hampton happened on Saturday morning local time, when four people were found shot to death. The sheriff in the district announced a reward of 10,000 dollars, equivalent to roughly 100,000 Swedish kronor, for information that could lead to an arrest.
Police have been tight-lipped on details about the mass shooting, but Hampton Police Chief James Turner said at a news conference that they are investigating at least four crime scenes close together in the same residential area.
James Turner also said the suspect lives in Hampton but would not comment on a possible motive for the shooting.
The city of Hampton has about 8,500 inhabitants and is located about six miles south of Atlanta.
