After the surprise success of Escape Room, the sequel followed two years later. Escape Room 2: No Way Out also inspires as a light version of Saw with creative and death games and plenty of excitement. Today it is running for the first time on German free TV. When and where is Escape Room 2 on TV?
The biggest horror of Escape Room 2 is the lack of logic
The sequel to Escape Room ties in seamlessly with its predecessor and brings back survivors Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller). They actually want to travel to New York to stop the organization behind the deadly Escape Room puzzles. Once there, they find themselves in the middle of a new Minos game: the Tournament of Champions.
From this moment on, the entire logic of the film collapses with every passing minute. Because for Zoey and Ben the game begins when they are guided through clever manipulation directly into a subway car, in which there are other survivors from previous trap games.

If the two main characters had arrived in New York only a few minutes or even seconds later, they would have missed their fateful subway ride. A single red traffic light would have ruined the entire game plan. And this is only the first of many constructed coincidenceswhich run through the film up to the twisty finale and cloud the horror fun.
The problem with both Escape Room films is clearly visible here: The mysterious antagonist Minos is almost godlike. Every moment seems staged and planned. For the characters this means: They have no free will. So why should we cheer for them when their every decision was predetermined by Minos? The solution: switch off your head and have fun.
Escape Room 2 may be illogical, but it’s damn entertaining
Like its predecessor, Escape Room 2 again relies on one unforgiving suspense and shocking twists. The highlight are again the incredibly detailed and impressively designed death puzzles. The nerve-wracking game of traps leaves you no time to marvel at them extensively.
You go from one puzzle room to the next without a break. The characters are always breathing down time as they solve tricky tasks amidst deadly electric shocks, lasers, quicksand, acid rain and flooding rooms. The players almost always escape with their lives at the last second (if at all).
The brazen logic errors are certainly annoying. But those who can overlook it will join in 90 minutes of escapist horror fun rewarded. Because like in almost every horror film, Escape Room 2 is not about questioning all of the characters’ decisions. It’s about the thrill.
