Attempted murder at Sidsjon – five in custody

Five young men have been detained in Sundsvall.

They are suspected of having kidnapped and tried to murder two boys.

During Friday evening, a large number of police were on site in the area where the crime took place.

Five men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of two attempted murders and kidnapping in Sundsvall.

On Sunday evening, they are suspected of having abducted two boys under the age of 18 to the Sidjsö area where they then tried to murder them.

Senior prosecutor Jens Göransson, who leads the investigation, says that the men used both weapons and tools when they abused the boys.

– However, it has not been shot, he says Sundsvall’s newspaper.

Seriously injured

The boys suffered serious injuries. Both have undergone surgery and were sedated in hospital. One of them was sedated for almost two days, according to Jens Göransson.

– They were very seriously injured, but it is stable for them now, he tells Aftonbladet on Saturday.

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday and remanded in custody on Friday. All of them are known to the police from before.

– There are several major investigative works underway now. The police work has gone incredibly fast, from the crime taking place on Sunday evening to five being arrested on Friday, says Jens Göransson.

Great investigative work

He does not want to comment on whether the suspects have connections to gang crime. He also does not want to say anything about the suspects and whether the victims are familiar with each other or whether there is any suspicious motive.

– I cannot comment on that at the moment, he says.

During Friday evening, the police were once again on site in the area where the attempted murders took place.

– Now a huge amount of work remains. There have been a number of safeguards of traces and seizures that have been taken and are to be analyzed and in terms of interrogation a lot of work remains, says Jens Göransson.
