Several members of Turkey’s parliament are threatening to vote no to ratifying Sweden’s NATO application.
According to SR Ekot, the leader of the far-right party MHP, which cooperates with Erdogan’s AKP, says that Sweden “threatens Turkey’s national existence, embraces bloody terrorist organizations and tolerates recruitment”.
Even the Islamist New Welfare Party has spoken out against a ratification.
At the same time, Bloomberg reports that Turkey has opened up for the Foreign Affairs Committee to meet this summer.
