HV71’s dream message – the star returns to the SHL after more than 900(!) NHL games: “I can tell you that”

It was already close before last season.
Now reinforces HV71 – with over 900 NHL match routine, according to Aftonbladet.
– I can tell you that, says sports manager Kent Norberg to the newspaper.

HV71 is gearing up for the coming season and now it seems they have got a name that is, to say the least, merited. Even before last season, intense discussions were going on between HV71 and the defensively skilled defender Anton Strålman, who then chose to continue his career in the NHL.

Returning to the SHL

Strålman went to the Boston Bruins, but last season there weren’t even a dozen games played. It has already been made clear that Strålman is moving home to Sweden and Skövde this summer, but whether he will play hockey – and where – has been unclear.

However, HV71 has always been clear that they want to bring about a signing. Strålman has not played in the SHL since the breakthrough in Timrå in 2006/2007. After that, he has played over 900 games in the NHL over 16 seasons, and it has also been both World Cup bronze and World Cup gold. And now it seems to be clear.

“I can tell you that”

According to Aftonbladet, HV71 is now getting his dream signing. The newspaper writes that the club has verbally agreed with the player, who is expected to be presented shortly. Sports director Kent Norberg did not confirm that it was Strålman in particular, but said the following:

– We are close to signing a back, a defensive back. I can tell you that.

According to Aftonbladet, it should be a one-year contract. The recruitment is important for HV71 as defender Emil Andrae is said to be leaving the club to play in the NHL and Philadelphia Flyers. Last year, HV71 signed another seasoned back in the form of Niklas Hjalmarsson, who was forced to end his career during the season after a concussion.
