According to the news of the South China Morning Post, Cang Haylian from the CMSA Engineering Unit gave information about the lunar missions that the agency plans to implement in the future.
MOON LANDER AND CREWED SPACE VEHICLE WILL BE LAUNCHED SEPARATELY
Cang stated that within the scope of the mission, which is planned to be carried out by 2030, the lunar lander and the crewed spacecraft will be launched into space separately, and after the vehicles are placed in orbit, the astronauts will land on the surface of the Moon.
Stating that the astronauts will collect samples from the surface within the framework of their scientific investigations on the Moon, Cang stated that the astronauts will return to Earth with the same vehicles.
Cang noted that Chinese scientists have developed a heavy-duty rocket “Long March 10”, a new generation crewed spacecraft, a Moon lander and a Moon crewed rover for the said Moon mission.
In the concept presentation of the China Aircraft Space Science and Technology Corporation at the end of 2022, it was depicted that the manned Moon mission would consist of a crew of three.
In the image, two astronauts were examining the surface of the Moon, while the other was doing the controls from the main spacecraft in orbit.
If the manned moon landing project is successful, China will be the second country after the USA to achieve it.
CHINA’S OTHER MONTH MISSIONS
The Chinese National Space Agency (CNSA) and the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) are carrying out a project to establish a base on the Moon’s surface for the study of the Moon.
The CNSA launched Chang’i-1 into lunar orbit for the first time in 2007 as part of its lunar missions.
In 2020, Chang’i-5 landed on the Moon and returned to Earth with 2 kilograms of lunar soil. (AA)
