You don’t know Dalgona Coffee yet? This whipped coffee from South Korea is the new star of social networks. It comes together in no time with super simple ingredients.
This ultra smooth smoothie is the latest coffee trend, ideal during the summer when enjoyed cold with ice cubes, or perfect for cocooning at home on winter Sundays, served hot for breakfast. Dalgona Coffee has the particularity of having a taste close to the caramel and Korean candy of Dalgona Candy, popularized by the series Squid Game from Netflix.
An easy recipe ready in just 5 minutes with inexpensive ingredients
Dalgona Coffee can only be made with soluble coffee, because it can froth more easily. It is necessary to have an electric mixer by default, at best, a milk frother. Sugar, soluble coffee, water and milk, and you’re done!
- Boil 100 milliliters of water.
- In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of instant coffee with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Pour boiling water into the bowl.
- Beat the mixture (with an electric mixer for 1 to 2 minutes) until you obtain a creamy coffee foam.
- Pour 200 milliliters of cold or hot milk into a tall glass (if the milk is cold, add ice cubes).
- Add the coffee foam to the tall glass, and possibly additional ingredients (see below).
Additional ingredients as desired
Dalgona Coffee lovers compete in imagination to create their own version of the drink by flavoring the milk with one to two tablespoons of caramel syrup or melted chocolate, or by dusting it all with cinnamon, cocoa or more speculoos biscuit shards.
Finally, during the preparation, you can replace the classic milk with almond or oat milk. As for powdered white sugar, you can replace it with brown sugar, brown sugar, coconut sugar or stevia. The iced dalgona coffee is consumed immediately, but the coffee foam can be stored in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
