Known as a hard thrower Silja Kosonen relaxes in his free time with another top sport. The throwing talent in his twenties confesses to being a passionate F1 fan.

– Would it be around 2020 or the 2021 season, when a compilation of some race came across on YouTube. You realized how funny the drivers are. When I’m not racing, I try to watch the races, Kosonen says about his first contact with formulas.

In the summer, athletics competitions often overlap with formula races.

– I’ve managed to swear a little a few times, when it always feels like some competitions are going on. I watch some composites, but I don’t rewatch the whole race.

However, you can talk about a proper hardcore fan.

– I would like to be able to watch some of the games. Maybe there isn’t enough mass yet that you would want to go somewhere more expensive, Kosonen laughs.

Kosonen says that he was a versatile bench athlete, especially when he was younger. The repertoire included, among other things, trapeze gymnastics and skiing. Now most of the time is spent following athletics and formulas.

Favorite driver

Kosonen’s favorite driver is a sympathetic Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo. The multiple competition winner was left without a driving seat at the end of last season, but on Tuesday it was reported that he will drive the rest of the season in the AlphaTauri team.

Kosonen shared the good news in his Instagram story section.

– I was happy when Ricciardo got back as a driver. It was a big surprise. He is such a funny person and a good driver.

Ricciardo drove many seasons in the Red Bull organization, one of the top teams in Formula One.

– I believe that he deserves that screen place. If Sergio Perez (current Red Bull driver) is not getting better, it may be that he will be with Red Bull again next season. However, I don’t know about those selection systems and others.

Breaking the qualifying limit by throwing

Throwing in his home competition, Kosonen easily advanced to tomorrow’s EC final with a competitive opening round of 71.33. The qualifying distance was a modest 66 meters for the champion favorite. He was the best in his qualifying group.

– The goal was to throw one throw and get away. The javelin throws were not the best, but I was able to correct those mistakes for the competition throw.

The European under-23 championship is still missing from Kosonen’s trophy collection.

– I expect good results. The trainings have gone well. I expect nothing but a good race.

Kosonen has liked the atmosphere of the home games.

– Relaxed atmosphere. It’s nice to meet new people. It’s a bit hard sometimes when I’m not the most social person, but I try to get to know each other.
