1689233175 Indigenous artists exhibition at Lynnwood Arts gets RBC Foundation funding

The Creative Together exhibition, an Indigenous artist project at Lynnwood Arts in Simcoe, has received a $30,000 donation from the RBC Foundation.

Kim Shippey, executive director at Lynnwood Arts, said she is “incredibly grateful to the RBC Foundation” for the donation that will provide funding to the artists involved in the project.

The funding will ensure that more than 2,000 school children are able to attend workshops conducted by the artists.

“This project will offer the avenue to support Indigenous cultural continuity and a powerful way in which to provide an educational and artistic element,” said Shippey.

Nabeel Ahmed Nooran, RBC’s community manager for Norfolk, said the donation “demonstrates commitment to partnering with Indigenous communities to build a brighter tomorrow – together.”

“When we’re creative together, we’re successful together,” Nooran said.

Indigenous artists Michael Barber, Cody Houle, Kristen Summers, and Michael Vukson are featured in the Creative Together exhibition at Lynnwood until September 30, 2023.
