Tesla’s founder Elon Musk co-founded the Open AI research company that developed the Chat GPT chatbot. But Musk left the company in 2018 and has since criticized its for-profit operations and the governance of the company. He has also expressed concern about the development of AI technology.
Elon Musk has hinted for several months that he wants to create an alternative to Chat GPT and on Wednesday the site XAI was launched. The brief goal of the venture is stated to be “to understand the true nature of the universe,” and a Twitter Q&A about the company is scheduled for Friday, July 14.
XAI is described on the website as a company independent from Musk’s company X Corp, but should have close cooperation with Twitter, Tesla and other companies.
