Several arsons in Lund may have a connection

During the weekend, the police investigated several arsons in Lund.
During the night to Monday, there was another fire – this time in a car and a garage.
– One hypothesis we are working with is that there is collusion, says the police officer on duty, Thomas Söderberg.

During the night to Saturday there were fires in three different places on the same street in Lund. Fires in a garbage room, a bicycle storage room and a long garage had to be extinguished by the emergency services.

The police set up cordons and investigated the scene. All fires are being investigated as arson, the police said over the weekend.

Five fires in three days

During the night to Monday there were fires again in various places in Lund. First, the police and emergency services were called to Gunnesbo due to a fully developed fire in a garage. Three garages have burned down and a fourth was damaged.

During the morning, the place has been cordoned off.

When the police were working on the garage fire, they received a new alarm about a fire some distance from the scene. When patrols went there, they found that a car was on fire.

Several units from five fire stations have participated in the night’s extinguishing work.

“Putting a lot of energy into this”

Both cases during the morning are being investigated as arson. The police have not yet arrested anyone but are investigating whether there is a connection between the five fires in the city.

– We have had fires in Lund recently, including a couple of days ago in an area called Linero. A hypothesis we are working with is that there is collusion, says the police officer on duty Thomas Söderberg during Monday morning.

– We put quite a lot of energy into this, both during the night and now in the morning.
