Last stockpile of chemical weapons destroyed

All the world’s registered chemical weapons have now been “irreversibly destroyed”, states the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The announcement comes after Joe Biden announced late on Friday evening that the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky had destroyed the chemical weapons it had kept in storage for decades.

However, four countries – Myanmar, Russia, Iran and Syria – are still suspected of having stockpiles of chemical weapons that they chose not to declare.
