When an excavator was to be unloaded from a truck trailer at the waste facility in Uppsala in the winter of 2021, a 300-kilogram ramp came loose from the trailer and ended up on a man who died, Upsala Nya Tidning writes.
The ramp was missing an important spring and now the CEO of the company where the man was employed has been convicted of work environment violations. The CEO is considered to have failed in his work environment responsibility, among other things, by not having taken sufficient measures to prevent the trailer from being used before it was repaired, the Uppsala District Court writes in its judgment.
The penalty is a suspended sentence and daily fines, and the man is also ordered to pay damages to the deceased’s relatives.
