A man in his 30s has also submitted an application to burn the Torah and the Bible at the Israeli embassy in mid-July, according to SVT.

The police must now assess whether permission can be granted or not.

– It is about safety aspects at the site. There are certain frameworks that we assess the applications based on, linked to the Public Order Act, says Rebecca Landberg, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police to TT.

The third application comes from a private person who wants to burn religious texts in central Helsingborg on July 12.

Last week, a Koran was set on fire outside a mosque on Södermalm in Stockholm, which has led to major protests and reactions in several countries. Among other things, the Swedish embassy in Baghdad was stormed in protest against the Koran burning.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry does not want to comment on how security at Swedish embassies around the world has been affected after the strong reactions.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not comment on the extent of the threat posed to individual embassies or what preparedness or security measures are being taken, as this could counteract the purpose of the measures,” writes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a comment.
