Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is calling for a nationwide protest on Friday following the high-profile Koran burning in Stockholm, state-run Turkish news agency Anatolia and Indian news channel ABP News report.
The incident has created great anger in the Muslim world. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned the burning in a televised speech and several countries have summoned Sweden’s ambassador due to the Koran burning, including Kuwait, Morocco, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
Prime Minister Sharif held a meeting on Tuesday where the burning of the Koran in Stockholm was discussed, according to a statement.
According to Sharif, the purpose of the protest, in which all political parties are also invited to participate, is to “send a message to the bad guys”.
