Cocaine has been found in the US president’s official residence in the White House, the news agency AP and the newspaper say The Washington Post. The substance was identified as a narcotic by the Washington fire department.

White powder was found late on Sunday in the west wing of the building, where the president’s office and the work spaces of his assistants are located, among other things. Hundreds of people move around the premises and, according to AP, the discovery was made in a place where, for example, groups of visitors move around.

The secret service responsible for the security of the president confirms to the news agency Reuters that its employees found an unknown object in the building. After the discovery, part of the building was isolated.
